Third RAAF F-35 Makes First Flight

Photographer Carl Richards captured these images of A35-003 taking off on its first flight, from Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, on December 1. The aircraft is due to be delivered to Luke Air Force Base, Arizona in early 2018 to be used for pilot and maintainer training, before being permanently relocated to Australia in 2020. A35-003, known to its manufacturer Lockheed Martin as AU-3, had its RAAF markings, including its 3 Squadron tail flashes, applied in early November, the final phase of the aircraft’s production process. 3 Squadron is due to become the first RAAF F-35 operational unit. Pengerjaan Proyek 5 Kapal LST Sesuai Rencana

30 November 2017 Pengerjaan LST di DRU (photo : defence.pk) Pengerjaan proyek 5 kapal jenis Landing Ship Tank (LST) dipastikan telah sesuai dengan waktu yang telah direncanakan. Kepastian tersebut didapat setelah Kementerian Pertahanan melaksanakan kunjungan kerja ke PT Daya Radar Utama (DRU) di bandar lampung selaku Badan Usaha Milik Swasta Strategis. Kepala Pusat Komunikasi Publik Kemhan, Brigjen Totok Sugiharto menyatakan, dari 5 pengadaan LST, 1 LST yaitu Kapal Republik Indonesia (KRI) Bintuni 520 telah beroperasional, sementara 4 LST lainnya direncanakan akan diselesaikan secara bertahap mulai pada pertengahan tahun 2018 mendatang. "PT DRU telah mendukung program penguatan Alutsista, khususnya armada laut guna mendukung pertahanan maritim di Indonesia. Indonesia dan Spanyol Perkuat Kerja Sama Pengadaan Alutsista

23 November 2017 Pesawat angkut NC-212i (photo : PTDI) JAKARTA - Pemerintah Indonesia dan Spanyol berencana melanjutkan kerja sama di bidang pengadaan alat utama sistem pertahanan (alutsista).  Menteri Koordinator Bidang Politik, Hukum dan Keamanan (Menko Polhukam) Wiranto mengatakan, kerja sama alutsista dengan Spanyol tersebut sudah terjalin sejak lama. Kini kedua negara berencana kembali memperkuat kerja sama tersebut, terutama di bidang pembuatan pesawat.  “Sejak pesawat pertama yang diterbangkan, yakni Pesawat Gatot Kaca, CN 212 hingga 235, dan kemarin menerbangkan pesawat 295. TNI Pesan 22 Speedboat Made In Warga Pesisir Paciran Lamongan - Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI) memesan 22 speedboat di Paciran, Lamongan. Bahkan, sejumlah personel dari Mabes TNI juga sudah menjajal speedboat tersebut. Informasi yang dihimpun menyebutkan, pembuatan speedboat ini dilakukan oleh PT Luckon Arthaka Nusantara (PATRIOT BOAT) yang bekerjasama dengan PT Tri Ratna Diesel Indonesia yang berada di Desa Tunggul, Kecamatan Paciran, sedang mengerjakan 22 speedboat pesanan dari Mabes TNI. Harris to Deliver Carriage & Release Systems for KAI KF-X

The KAI KF-X jet is a programme to develop an advanced multirole fighter for the Republic of Korea Air Force. "The KF-X aircraft represents a new strategic customer and fighter development platform for Harris in the Asian market," Ed Zoiss, President, Harris Electronic Systems, explained. BHIC's Unit Bags RM19m Contract from Ministry of Defence

16 November 2017 RMN frigates KD Jebat dan KD Lekiu (photo : Chanjunshen sports) Boustead Heavy Industries Corp Bhd’s (BHIC) wholly owned subsidiary BHIC Defence Techservices Sdn Bhd has secured a contract worth RM19.5 million from the Ministry of Defence Malaysia for the supply and delivery of communications for Squadron 23rd Frigate of the Royal Malaysian Navy. In an exchange filing today, BHIC said the contract is for the period of two years and a formal contract between the government and the company will be signed at a later date. “The contract will have no material effect on the earnings of the company for the financial year ending December 31, 2017 but it will contribute positively to the future earnings of BHIC group,” it said. Mr Pyne was asked at a major submarine conference in Adelaide on Tuesday morning whether it would be possible to sell submarines overseas now that Australia is embarking on the $50 billion Future Submarines project. License Sought for Regional Production of Ukraine's BTR-4

13 November 2017 BTR-4 8x8 armoured personnel carrier (photo : TAF) State-owned defence industry group Ukroboronprom is pursuing regional license manufacture for its  8x8 BTR-4 armoured personnel carrier (APC). A company representative said it is already in talks with a number of potential customers in Southeast Asia. The company’s latest success in the region is with the Indonesian Marine Corps (KORMAR), which ordered an initial five vehicles in 2014 with these delivered in September 2016. KORMAR has a known requirement to replace around 100 ageing BTR-50PK APCs that were acquired from Ukraine in the late 1990s. The BTR-4s delivered to the KORMAR, which are manufactured by the Kharkov Morozov Machine Building Plant, have been equipped with a ZTM-1 30mm automatic cannon and a coaxial AGS-17 30mm automatic grenade launcher. UK Looks to CEA Radar for Navy

13 November 2017 CEA radar for warship (photo : MDC) The Minister for Defence Industry, Christopher Pyne today welcomed the announcement that the British Government will look at the feasibility of fitting cutting-edge Australian radar on future British warships. The announcement made by the Under Secretary of State for Defence Procurement, Harriett Baldwin during her visit to Adelaide today is for a capability study to fit CEA Technologies’ ‘CEAFAR’ radar to British ships and it will begin early next year. The radar is already in-service with the Australian Navy. The decision came after the Australia/UK Defence Industry Dialogue which took place in the United Kingdom last week.  The partnership is seen as a vehicle for accelerating co-operation between the two nations. Nama tersebut diberikan secara resmi oleh Jokowi saat meninjau pesawat N219 di Landasan Udara Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta, Jumat (10/11/2017). "Dengan mengucap bismillahirrahmanirrahim, saya resmikan pesawat N219 sebagai pesawat Nurtanio," ucap Jokowi. Thailand Unveils Autonomous Truck Mounted Mortar (ATMM) 120mm

10 November 2017 Autonomous Truck Mounted Mortar (photo : Shephard) Royal Thai Army, Elbit expand collaboration on mortar and gun systems The Royal Thai Army’s (RTA’s) Weapon Production Centre (WPC) has expanded its partnership with Israeli company Elbit Systems, with the parties now collaborating on two programmes: an autonomous truck-mounted mortar (ATMM) and an autonomous truck-mounted gun (ATMG) system. Autonomous Truck Mounted Mortar (photo : Army Recognition) The ATMM project features the WPC’s production and integration of Elbit’s 120 mm Spear mortar system with a 4x4 truck supplied by Indian company Tata. The ATMG project incorporates Elbit’s ATMOS 155 mm/39-calibre self-propelled howitzer on a 6x6 10-tonne Tatra truck from the Czech Republic. Under the ATMM project the RTA will install and assemble 10 systems, with four already delivered, and the ATMG programme features 18 systems, 12 of them new orders. ( Jane's )

The USV capable of performing the patrol and attack mission, search and rescue mission, and surveillance and reconnaissance. The overall length is 10 m and 3.20 m beam. It can reach more than 45 knots of maximum speed while cruise speed is 35 knots. Operational range is 300 nm and can withstand the Sea State 3. Hull is made from composite material with 2 outboard engines. The front deck can accommodate the 5.56 mm or 7.62 mm remote-control weapon. LRAD or Laser Dazzler can be used in the non-lethal mission. Sky Scout Designed for Thai Skies

08 November 2017 Sky Scout UAV (photo : Shephard) The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) has begun the process of inducting an indigenously produced tactical UAV known as the Sky Scout suitable for training, surveillance and operations other than war. RV Connex, Sky Scout’s developer, was selected by the RTAF to develop the UAV in November 2016. Three aircraft have been handed over to the air force to date out of a total requirement approaching nearly 20. An operational test and evaluation is set to occur early next year. Deliveries have already started even though some steps of the time-consuming certification process are yet to take place. 07 November 2017 Pesawat angkut ringan N-219 (photo : LAPAN) Tangerang - Pemerintah Indonesia menawarkan pesawat buatan PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI), yakni N-219, kepada Tiongkok dan Meksiko. Kedua negara itu dinilai potensial untuk menyerap pesawat yang saat ini masih dalam tahap pengujian tersebut. Direktur Jenderal Perhubungan Udara Kementerian Perhubungan (Kemhub) Agus Santoso menjelaskan, pihaknya ingin pemasaran atas pesawat N-219 dilakukan secara ekspansif.
