Photographer Carl Richards captured these images of A35-003 taking off on its first flight, from Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, on December 1. The aircraft is due to be delivered to Luke Air Force Base, Arizona in early 2018 to be used for pilot and maintainer training, before being permanently relocated to Australia in 2020. A35-003, known to its manufacturer Lockheed Martin as AU-3, had its RAAF markings, including its 3 Squadron tail flashes, applied in early November, the final phase of the aircraft’s production process. 3 Squadron is due to become the first RAAF F-35 operational unit. (photo : RMAF) LABUAN - The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) would never compromise on its PARADISE exercise even in the face of financial constraints, Air Operation Commander Lieutenant General Datuk Seri Abdul Mutalib Ab Wahab said on Saturday. “The mini PARADISE 4/17 exercise, which was conducted at the Labuan air base here, had achieved its training objectives. “The RMAF will improve its weaknesses to ensure better exercises,” he said in a statement. The 10-day exercise, which ended on Saturday morning, involved about 300 personnel. Assets involved include the fighter jets F/A-18D, SU-30MKM and Hawks; the transport carriers A400M, KC130 and CN235; the C130H tanker; and the helicopters S61A and EC725 AP.
