Third RAAF F-35 Makes First Flight

Photographer Carl Richards captured these images of A35-003 taking off on its first flight, from Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, on December 1. The aircraft is due to be delivered to Luke Air Force Base, Arizona in early 2018 to be used for pilot and maintainer training, before being permanently relocated to Australia in 2020. A35-003, known to its manufacturer Lockheed Martin as AU-3, had its RAAF markings, including its 3 Squadron tail flashes, applied in early November, the final phase of the aircraft’s production process. 3 Squadron is due to become the first RAAF F-35 operational unit. TNI AU Akan Bentuk Tiga Lanud di Papua Barat

Biak (Antara Papua) - TNI Angkatan Udara  (AU) akan membentuk tiga pangkalan udara (lanud) di wilayah Provinsi Papua Barat, yakni di Sorong, Manokwari, dan Sorong Selatan. 

"Markas Komando Lanud Manuhua Biak, Provinsi Papua, tengah menyiapkan pembentukan tiga pangkalan udara itu," kata Komandan Pangkalan Udara Manuhua Biak Kolonel Penerbang Fajar Adriyanto menjawab Antara seusai perayaan Sumpah Pemuda di Biak, Senin.

Ia mengatakan pembentukan tiga Lanud baru di Provinsi Papua Barat sudah menjadi kebutuhan TNI AU untuk menambah kekuatan dalam rangka mengamankan wilayah udara Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia.

Fajar mengharapkan pembentukan tiga Lanud baru dapat meningkatkan kinerja pelayanan pengamanan wilayah udara di wilayah Provinsi Papua Barat.

"Untuk pengoperasian pembentukan tiga Lanud baru kami telah menyiapkan sarana prasarana kesatuan serta personel TNI AU," ujarnya.

Berdasarkan data Bandara Sorong Domine Eduardo Osok merupakan pintu masuk penerbangan ke Manokwari, ibukota Provinsi Papua Barat serta bandara Teminabuan Kabupaten Sorong Selatan dan Kabupaten Raja Ampat.

Bandara Sorong Domine Ediar Osok memiliki landasan pacu (runway) dengan panjang 2.060 meter dan lebar 45 meter yang bisa didarati pesawat berbadan lebar (wide body) dan pesawat propeller. 

Ke depannya, panjang runway bandara ini akan ditingkatkan menjadi 2.500 meter agar lebih banyak jenis pesawat yang bisa mendarat di bandara itu.

Sedangkan bandara Rendani Manokwari, Papua Barat merupakan bandara di ibukota Porvinsi Papua Barat dengan panjang landasan pacu mencapai 2.000 meter dan lebar 45 meter.

Sementara untuk bandara Teminabuan, Kabupaten Sorong Selatan dengan panjang 800 meter berstatus kelas III saat ini dikelola Kementerian Perhubungan.
